Specifier note: The load class on the cover must match the installation location. A D400-rated cover installed in an A15 pedestrian location is unnecessarily over-specified and costly. A B125 cover installed in a D400 road will fail under vehicle loading. If the future use of an area is uncertain — for example, a car park that may later admit delivery vehicles — always specify to the higher likely load class.
