Hollow Sections — SHS, RHS & CHS Steel Tubes from Turkey

Steeling.net supplies cold-formed and hot-finished hollow structural sections (HSS) from certified Turkish manufacturers. Our range includes Square Hollow Sections (SHS), Rectangular Hollow Sections (RHS), and Circular Hollow Sections (CHS) — all produced to EN 10210 (hot-finished) and EN 10219 (cold-formed) standards.

Hollow sections are used across construction, mechanical engineering, furniture manufacturing, racking systems, and modular structures. Turkish mills offer highly competitive pricing with EN-certified quality and short lead times to European and global buyers.

Applications of Steel Hollow Sections

  • Construction: columns, beams, trusses, space frames, canopy structures
  • Mechanical engineering: machine frames, conveyor supports, lifting equipment
  • Furniture & interior: table legs, shelving frames, partition systems
  • Racking & storage: pallet racking uprights, cross-beams, mezzanine frames
  • Automotive & transport: chassis components, trailer frames, roll cages
  • Agricultural: greenhouse frames, irrigation support structures, fencing

Hot-Finished vs. Cold-Formed Hollow Sections

Hot-finished sections (EN 10210) have uniform wall thickness, reduced residual stress, and rounded outer corners — suited for structural and load-bearing applications. Cold-formed sections (EN 10219) have sharper corners, are available in a wider range of small sizes, and are generally lower cost — ideal for mechanical, furniture, and non-primary structural use. Both types are available from our sourcing network.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between SHS and RHS hollow sections?

SHS (Square Hollow Section) has equal width and height, making it symmetric in both axes — preferred for columns, posts, and symmetric connections. RHS (Rectangular Hollow Section) has a larger dimension in one direction, providing higher bending resistance in that plane — better suited for beams and horizontal members where load is predominantly in one direction.

When should I choose CHS over SHS or RHS?

CHS (Circular Hollow Section) is the most efficient profile for axial compression and torsion, as the circular cross-section distributes stress uniformly around the perimeter. It is preferred for architecturally exposed structures, handrails, masts, and offshore applications. However, CHS connections are more complex to fabricate than square or rectangular profiles.

What steel grades are available for hollow sections?

Standard grades are S235JRH, S275J0H, and S355J2H per EN 10210/10219 (the 'H’ suffix denotes hollow section). S355 is most common for structural applications. Higher grades S420 and S460 are available on request. ASTM A500 equivalent grades can also be supplied.

Are galvanized hollow sections available?

Yes. Hot-dip galvanized SHS and RHS sections are available in selected sizes (typically 2–8 mm wall thickness). Galvanizing is done after forming to ISO 1461. These are suitable for outdoor structures, greenhouse frames, and agricultural applications where corrosion protection is required.

What is the minimum order quantity for hollow sections?

No minimum for quote requests. For international shipping, the practical minimum is typically 5–10 tonnes per profile type for LCL freight, or 20+ tonnes for FCL. Multiple section types can be consolidated into one shipment.
